Children’s Liturgy of the Word at St. Celestine Church

The Children’s Liturgy of the Word takes place at the 11 AM Mass on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at St. Celestine Church. Children from Kindergarten–age through fourth grade are invited to participate. Dedicated catechists lead this age–appropriate time for children to understand the Sunday scriptures and to reflect on how they are called to live the message in their day-to-day activities.

What happens during the Children’s Liturgy of the Word?

After the opening prayer, the Presider calls the Children’s Minister of the Word and children forward and blesses them. The children follow their leader to the Chapel where the Sunday Scriptures are read from the Children’s Lectionary. Included are the Old Testament reading, Responsorial Psalm, Gospel Acclamation, Gospel Proclamation, Reflection, Creed, and the Prayers of the Faithful. The children return to the assembly during the Presentation of the Gifts as together we continue to celebrate the Eucharist as one family of faith.
