The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, also known as RCIA, is for those seeking baptism, those baptized in another Christian tradition who are seeking full communion with the Church as well as baptized Catholics completing their Sacraments of Initiation. Those who are seeking to be baptized are known as Catechumens and those who are seeking full communion with the Church or those completing their Sacraments are known as Candidates.

In the Rite of Election, Catechumens are formally called or chosen for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This calling or election is founded on the election by God, in whose name the Church acts.

Jordan Sackmaster participated in the Rite of Election on March 6, 2022, at Holy Name Cathedral with Bishop Robert Casey. During the season of Lent, the Church will be celebrating rites that are part of the RCIA called the three Scrutinies for those seeking the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist on the Easter Vigil.

Please keep all of the teens and adults in RCIA in your prayers as they prepare to complete their Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
