ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A DEEPER SPIRITUALITY?
Ongoing Invitation

Join the Lay Dominicans

Who are the Lay Dominicans? – Lay Dominicans are Roman Catholic people at least 18 years old. They are disciples living in a secular world — men and women, married and single—within their particular circumstances of family and profession. Once a month they set time aside to be in community – praying together, studying spirituality and theology, and performing regular service for others. And they strive as part of the larger Dominican Family worldwide, to keep alive the spirit of St. Dominic’s preaching in new and creative ways to meet the needs of our time.

If you would like to learn more about the Bishop Edward Fenwick Chapter of the Lay Dominicans please contact Kim Burch at 773–417–7392 or email at yankeerose86@yahoo.com.

“Every threat to the family is a threat to society itself. The future of humanity, as Saint John Paul II often said, passes through the family (cf. Familiaris Consortio, 85). So protect your families! See in them your country’s greatest treasure and nourish them always by prayer and the grace of the sacraments.” Pope Francis

Migrant families who are escaping various forms of violence and persecution in their homeland are being routinely separated at the boarder. Since October 2017, over 700 children have been separated from their parents, including over 100 children under the age of four. On May 4, 2018, DHS stated that it will refer all individuals who cross the border without authorization for criminal prosecution, including adult members of family units. If implemented, this policy will undoubtedly lead to a drastic increase in incidences of family separation.

ACTION: Ask Congress to protect immigrant families seeking safety and shelter from violence. Visit www.justiceforimmigrants.org/take–action/action–alerts/ for ways to contact your officials.
