April 2, 2023

We celebrated the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Jesus is greeted by hundreds of people who wave palm branches and shout “Hosanna to the Son of David, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord marks the beginning of Holy Week. This is the most important week of the liturgical year.

We gathered outside the church entrance on 76th Court at St. Celestine and in the back of the church at St. Cyprian at the beginning of Mass. The palm branches were blessed at each Mass and distributed to everyone. We processed together with our blessed palm branches to commemorate Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem and to remind us that Jesus is our King and Savior. At the 9 and 11 AM Masses on April 2, 2023, we processed around both churches.
